Where the crawdads sing by Delia Owens

An amazing novel, beautiful and sad, that I will always remember.

Kya grows up in deepest poverty,  in a shack on the We've of the marsh by Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast.

One after one, her family deserts her, leaves her alone with her abusive father, who soon disappears as well. A small child, left alone, shouldn't even survive. But she does. She is brilliant, sensitive, empathetic and talented, and forms a tight pact with nature around her. Her loneliness is intense, and so well described.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect the so-called Marsh Girl.

This book is a murder mystery, a poetic nature tale and a book of sadness, violence and loneliness.

Above all it's an exquicite novel about a deserted child.
