My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
Skriv inläggstext

The first book in a series about female friendship. A book that has taken the world by storm and I get it. I get why.
Two girls growing up in a rough part of Naples in the 1950's Re best friends.
Elena is telling the story. Lila is brilliant but complicated. Not very nice but brutally honest, brave (or careless?) and extremely intelligent.
This book follows them from the age of playing with dolls to high school and marriage.
Their friendship is much like their lives; tough and demanding. Without many options or luxuries. The live of learning is like a treasure and I adore how they push eachother and develop their brains before their beauty. One does not excuse the other though.
When the book is finished I feel like I gained a whole community of rough talking 1950's Italian folk.
Can't wait for the next book!
